Frozen Banana Bites with Nut Butter and Chocolate

As a kid, going to DisneyWorld, chocolate covered frozen bananas with nuts was a traditional snack we siblings shared. (I always tried to get more chocolate in my bites) Here's a fun update to those great flavors.

This recipe is originally from

Shayna's Kitchen, and I love it so much I wanted to share it.

Prep Time: 20 min. + freezing Serves: many as y'all want

INGREDIENTS:

3 bananas halved lengthwise (or as many as you want, go nuts! Orange you glad I didn't say bananas?)

3 tbsp nut butter of choice (almond, sunflower, peanut, hazelnut) 1/4 cup chopped nuts (I used hazelnuts and candied pecans)

1 cup chocolate chips melted (optional: use Trader Joe's chocolate almond spread, that I like better than Nutella. It just tastes cleaner, healthier and less processed to me.)

DIRECTIONS:

  • halve bananas and spread them on a parchment lined baking sheet

  • spread your nut butter on the cut sides with a butter knife or offset spatula

  • in a glass bowl, microwave your chocolate in 30 second intervals to melt, stirring in between until you can stir until smooth.

  • sprinkle 2/3 of your nuts onto the nut butter and banana

  • drizzle chocolate over (and have fun with it!)

  • top with remaining nuts

  • freeze for about an hour before snacking. Enjoy!
