Cereal mash-ups are here! Now, you can make them the original way, because classics are wonderful, But....what if I told you, you could have more fun with these? Let's go!
There are a few ways to go here, and they're all great. Have a favorite cereal? Throw some in here and have a blast. My faves so far, are Lucky Charms, Cocoa Puffs and Fruity Pebbles. Only because I haven't tried Crunch Berries or Corn Pops or Honey Smacks, or... Now you're gettin' the idea.
And of Course there are sprinkles.
Let's make 'em.
NOTE: If you're gluten-free DO NOT USE Rice Krispies cereal. It contains malt syrup. Use generic without malt.
Prep: Total Time: Serves:
INGREDIENTS:
3 tbsp salted butter. (I use Challenge)
1 package Jet-Puffed marshmallows
1 tsp vanilla extract
6 cups puffed rice cereal (for the OG recipe)
OR: 3 cups rice cereal and 3 cups flavored cereal of choice. (pictured: Lucky Charms)
optional garnishes: sprinkles, chocolate chips, nuts, M&M's, Reeses Pieces, mini peanut butter cups, Oreos, pretzel bits, and/or 2 cups mini marshmallows to fold in with the cereal for a Rocky Road look. Wanna get really fancy? Who's gonna stop you? Brown that butter when melting. Dip those puppies or drizzle them with your fave chocolate. Be Extra if you want to!
DIRECTIONS:
over medium heat, melt the butter then add the package of marshmallows, stirring until melted and smooth
add the vanilla
remove from heat and working quickly, fold in the cereal, or cereals of choice until combined (and those whole mini marshmallows if you choose)
press mixture into a greased 9x13 pan (use a greased spatula, spoon or wax paper)
top with garnishes and let cool at room temp for 30 minutes (Anticip.......)
cut into squares and enjoy
These keep for about a week. Keep them stacked in a cake dome, or wrapped in wax paper. Have so much fun with these.
I often snack on Honey Nut Cheerios. Wonder how they would work?
